| On a daily basis we walk around and connect with
people, places, and things that we incorporate into who we are. The
internet, music, television, and other media maximize this unavoidable process
of assimilation. Each day we sponge off the world around us.
This page shows you just some of the little things I have sponged off of
recently.

My Movie Review: The Mexican: Starring: Julia Roberts & Brad Pitt. First of all let me say I didn't plan to go see this movie, but I ended up seeing it anyway and I am quite pleased that I did. Julia played a more neurotic and selfish character than usual. I felt her pain but I kind of wanted to slap her half way through the movie. But she made up for it with her romantic sweet side and God knows that is one of the reasons why we all love her. Brad on the other hand played kind of a weak role in comparison to his more dramatic roles in movies like Seven and Fight Club. His weakness and her neuroticness made this movie a funny one at least and somewhat of a semi-masterpiece at most. With the addition of several little plot twists including a gay hit man, the surprising appearance of Gene Hackman, some comical upsets and a romantic story about a cursed gun weaved in between made this movie a winner in my eyes. If you go to see it be prepared for some great one liners that you can take to the bank with you and pay attention to the small things.. it will come back to you at the end. I give this move a thumbs up for comedy, a thumbs in the middle for tasteful violence, a thumbs up for romance, and a thumbs up for storyline although the ending was a little weak...
My Music Review: Have you ever had the good fortune to have a music addiction? I have had one lately and I just can't seem to get enough. But this time around I will review the soundtrack for Road Trip. First of the the movie was hysterical. But the song by the Eels, Mr. E's Beautiful Blues, the lyrics say, "Goddamn right it's a beautiful day" just sums up my life lately. So anyway I HAD to get the cd and I was glad I did. There is a great oldschool song by RunDMC It's Tricky (also on the Can't Hardly Wait soundtrack) which in light of the movie, makes that song hysterical and a must have for any party. E.M.S.P. by Kid Rock featuring Uncle Kracker is OK. It is another song I feel that they spend way too much time saying their own name in the lyrics but it is a little sexy in a way but very badass but what else do we expect from Kid Rock? Jungle Brothers gives us Early Morning which this girl can't even remember so I had to listen to it again, kind of a soft rappy kind of song, sokay.. nothing too exciting. BuckCherry's Anything Anything is a very cool song. I imagine driving very fast to this song.. but then I am a freak about driving music too. Some of the other songs are really great, you have of course Twisted Sister's I wanna rock and what road trip would be complete without that. And to round it out is Minnie Riperton's Inside My Love.. anyone who saw the movie will be revisited by visions of a skinny white kid and a big beautiful black woman makin' it to this song. So all and all the soundtrack is really good and I would recommend adding it to your collection especially if you like movie soundtracks like I do. Well those are all the opinions I got for right now.. but keep an eye out for more. |
